Mexican Food

There are three main things we miss from the states: Family, Friends, and Mexican food.  After spending the last two weeks in Poland, there is a lot to share, but this one couldn't wait.  We found an authentic Mexican place in Krakow, and had to eat there!

Strange to see a pinata against this Eastern European architecture.

Meredith could hardly contain herself :).

The food was good, and very close to Mexican

Backpacking the French Alps

J, A and I went backpacking in Parc National des Ecrin, in the French Alps.  We would love to have you come join us on a similar trip sometime!  Let's get on the trail...

...and to camp, about an hour and a half later.

On the trail early next morning.

Amazing views from the trail.

Triple selfie.

Moving to the snow line.

At our destination - Lac de Vallonpierre, still below the snow and ice.

The refuge, looking across the lake.

View from the top.

Enjoying the plant life on the way down.

And on the way back, new favorite waterfall, thanks to glacier melt-off.  A nice place to soak tired feet before the trip home.

FIN.

The Sun Smiles

We have learned to love the sun here in Southern France.  Today it came out and lifted the temperature a few degrees, allowing us to have a bit of lunch outside on the terrace.

A la Maison

Hello All! We have been consumed in the daily tasks of a new job, four kids in French School, language study, and generally re-setting-up our lives here in France. This has required us to pay more attention to getting things done, and less to getting them communicated.  In any case, it is time to resurrect the old blog.

It has been requested that we post a few pictures of our new home, dogs, etc. Last week we had so much rain that it would have been difficult to take a picture outside without standing in a puddle.  The sunshine in Southern France is so nice, I had to wait for it.  Sorry, not too many kid pics, and no dog pics (that will have to be another post) as the dogs belong to the neighborhood, and we have little control over which neighbor they decide to grace their presence with.

To keep things interesting, these pictures are accompanied by a quiz.* Please match the picture with the statement below. Good Luck!

1. Dawn a jacket or stand here to warm your heart and body.
2. Can't wait until it is 80 degrees!
3. Had any sleep lately?
4. Be here at 6:30 AM to see ghosts in blankets reading holy books.
5. Going up?
6. I hope the kids don't find me here...
7. Fun is sometimes most important in a relationship.
8. Keep away! (tourists and robbers)
9. Le salle de bain jaune.
10. A dog's favorite sitting spot.
11. En français: jardin
12. Je voudrais manger quelque chose.

*If you get an A on the quiz you can come visit us!  (Grading scale: A=10% or more correct)

May I Take Your Order?

This morning I returned from a long run to find J and E had created a restaurant in the kitchen. E had ordered and was already eating, and J asked me what I would like. You can see from the order form what we had:

After ordering (My meal was $2.50) the food was presented to me and I was handed a receipt. J then questioned "Will that be credit or debit?" He air-swiped my pretend debit card and we were on our way.

A Progression

E has been losing teeth. Some due to licorice, others jarred loose by apples, they come out with a pop. She doesn't seem to mind, or even notice when they are gone. Check out this progression of photos:
One Gone.We call this the Nanny McFee look.
She seems to enjoy the attention.
Growing up fast! The last one is conference weekend. Thanks Grandma D for getting the photo.
